Our story

Weʼre Americans who were so charmed
by Prince Edward Island that we packed
up the family and left Montana in 2002
to make both a living and a life here on
ʻthe gentle island.ʼ Itʼs been quite an
adventure so far. Everyone has a story
and weʼd love to hear yours!

House proud

We fell in love with the house the
minute we walked through the door,
and have worked tirelessly to restore it
to its 1860 grandeur. Come and let us
show you around.

Why Maplethorpe?

The builder of our home, Major Wright,
was Bedequeʼs first postmaster and
justice of the peace. He opened the
house to much local fanfare and named
it ʻMaplethorpe.ʼ We kept the name in
his honor.

Bedeque

The Village of Bedeque is a bustling
little crossroad, full of interesting local
characters. Stop for stamps at the
Village Store and pick up a bit of
gossip-no extra charge. Take a walk
around the Village and youʼll be
charmed.
